The general rule of thumb is on all walking age humans all oils may be used neat on the bottom of the feet. Some areas of the body are more sensitive than others and some oils are milder or hotter than others. Use common sense and when in doubt go “low and slow.” That just means to use them on the bottom of your feet to start and a little at a time with carrier.

The fact is, Young Living oils are so pure that most can be used without fear, but always use your best judgement & what feels right for you and your family!

And remember you don’t need a lot of oils to start seeing great results.   The drops are mightly potent!

Here are some other key points

  • A carrier oil helps slow absorption and cover more area with less oil.    Many call this dilution but unless you mix a new synergy in a separate bottle you would still be applying a full drop.
    • A dilution is a new ratio of oil to carrier — ie a 10% dilution is 1 drop of oil to 10 drops carrier.  And then you apply a drop of the new mixture.   This will become more important for pets & babies
  •  The term “neat” means without a carrier oil.
  • A “hot” oil is one that feels warm or smells spicy. Use a carrier oil.
  • If you get essential oils in your eye, rinse with milk, rice milk, or carrier oil. Do not flush with water.
  • Do not apply a citrus oil to the skin if you are going in the sun. Wait 12-18 hours.  They can cause photosensitivity.
  • Always apply with carrier oil if under age 12.
  • f you experience an uncomfortable response, add carrier oil or discontinue use.
